Don Granato will be named acting head coach for the National Hockey League (NHL) Buffalo Sabers following the resignation of Ralph Krueger, TSN reported, citing Buffalo News.
Krueger was dismissed earlier Wednesday. He has led Buffalo since May 2019. Granato was one of Kruger's assistants at the club.
According to the publication, another assistant of Kruger Steve Smith also left the club, and Granato's assistants will be Matt Ellis and Dan Girardi, who worked as coaches in the Buffalo system. The appointment of Granato will soon be officially announced by General Manager Kevin Adams, who has scheduled a special press conference.
