Tarpischev spoke about the reasons why Rublev can not defeat Medvedev

The President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTR) Shamil Tarpishchev commented on Daniil Medvedev's victory over Andrei Rublev with a score of 7:5, 6:3, 6:2 in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.

"As the game progressed, Medvedev was a little more skillful tactically, while Rublev relied on the aggressiveness of his actions. But aggressiveness from the backline with Medvedev alone would hardly have brought success because Rublev needed to break the game more due to the fact that Medvedev is tactically more sophisticated from the backline. Ultimately this led to a victory,"- said Tarpishchev.

Tarpishchev also named the reason why Rublev cannot defeat Medvedev yet. He thinks that this is due to Andrey's injury, which he has got two years ago.

"He lost six months on rehabilitation. During this time, Medvedev has gained tremendous experience in playing with leading players. Medvedev has more experience, more options: both bad and good, in which he was in matches against top-10 players. It is clear that Rublev made a great breakthrough in the break of the year, but he will still play enough. The class of their game is slowly being adjusted. It's good for Medvedev that the match took place in three sets. He is fully physically ready for the semi-finals because the heat has gone. The intensity has gone so much today that, in principle, both almost suffocated,"-Tarpischev told.

For Daniil Medvedev, victories over Andrei Rublev became the 11th victory in a row over top-10 players. After which, he will definitely become the third racket in the world. In the semifinal match of the Australian Open tennis championship, Medvedev will face the winner of the pair Nadal - Tsitsipas.
